Student Support Services is located just past the Nurse's Office on the way to the main gymnasium. This office is open from 7:30AM-4PM, Monday-Thursday and on Friday from 7:30AM-3:30PM, with Counselors, Social Workers and Psychologists available from 7:35AM-3:20PM, Monday-Friday.
Counseling Staff
The focus of the high school counselors is to provide academic support, including course selection and placement, post-secondary options and choices and overall guidance throughout the high school years for students. The Derby High School Counselors focus on one grade level each, please contact the team member that matches your student's grade level if you have any questions.
Social Workers
School Social Workers play a vital role in supporting students’ academic and emotional well-being. They address personal, social and family challenges that affect learning by collaborating with teachers, parents and administrators to promote student success. Though trained in counseling, their focus is on supporting students’ school-related well-being through short-term interventions and connecting families with community resources.
