NCAA Eligibility

College Bound Student Athletes

Students who are planning to enroll in college and wish to participate in NCAA Division I or II athletics or NAIA athletics should schedule a meeting with the Athletic Office to review the eligibility requirements before the end of their Sophomore year. They should also meet again every semester during their high school career with the Athletic Office to re-evaluate. Students must also register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at www.eligibilitycenter.org and playnaia.org.

Students must complete 16 core credits in the core areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and World Languages, as well as meet GPA requirements.

The following is a quick reference ONLY. Please, again, check with the athletic office or the Eligibility Center website for specifics about eligibility requirements.

Division I and II 16 Core-Course Credit Rule
16 Core Credits:
      4 years - English
      3 years - Mathematics (Algebra 1 or higher; Pre-Algebra, Thinking Math, and Math 3 do not count)
      2 years - Natural/Physical Science 
      1 year - additional English, Math, or Natural/Physical Science
      2 years - Social Studies
      4 years - additional courses (from any area above, foreign language or non-doctrinal religion/philosophy)

NCAA GPA  Information
Division I - 2.3 or greater core course GPA
Division II - 2.2 or greater core course GPA

Student athletes that do not meet the requirements for NCAA Division I or II or NAIA at graduation may be eligible to play at a Junior/Community College and then transfer up to a four-year institution.
