Bell Tradition
An annual tradition for new students is to touch the bell to mark their entrance to Derby High School. Upon exiting the building for the final time prior to graduation, seniors ring the bell, symbolizing the completion of high school.

Derby Public Schools is excited to launch ParentSquare as our new district-wide communication platform. Beginning this summer and ahead of the 2026-2027 school year, ParentSquare will become the primary way families, staff and schools communicate.

Ahead of the 2026-2027 school year, Derby Public Schools is moving to a new streamlined platform for all athletics and activities management. All secondary schools will use BOUND for registration, ticketing and scheduling.

As we begin a new school year, we encourage all Derby High School students and families to review our updated bell-to-bell personal electronic device expectations. Changes have been made to align with Kansas HB 2299 and support a focused learning environment.

With the new Kansas State Board of Education graduation requirements for the Classes of 2028 and beyond, Derby High School has been working with students on the completion of postsecondary assets.

With 95.2% of seniors in the Class of 2025 earning diplomas, Derby High School set a new record for its highest graduation rate to date.

Parents/guardians of students who attended Derby Public Schools during the 2025-2026 school year are encouraged to log in to the state’s online KITE Parent Portal to review their child’s Spring 2026 State Assessment scores.

Brainfuse is partnering with Derby Public Schools to provide high-dose online tutoring during the summer at no cost to families. Brainfuse is perfect for students who are ready to strengthen their academic skills in math or reading. This program is open to students in grades 2-10.

Giving The Basics provides necessities of life that most people take for granted such as laundry soap, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper and other personal care hygiene products to registered and approved locations. Simply Hygiene distribute free hygiene products through a consistent monthly ordering process.
